Melanie Weber-Moritz

Born 27th december 1973 in Bad Hersfeld, Hessen (Germany). Melanie Weber-Moritz studied political and social sciences in Göttingen, Bristol and Berlin and completed a doctorate on issues of climate protection. She was Federal Director of Deutscher Mieterbund e. V. (DMB – the German Tenants' Association) from 2019 bis 2025. In June 2025, she was elected President of the Deutscher Mieterbund e. V. by the General Assembly of the Deutscher Mieterbund – the Deutscher Mietertag.

 

In May 2026 Melanie Weber-Moritz was elected Vice President of the International Union of Tenants (IUT). Since November 2024, she is also Chair of the Board of Directors of the Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband e. V. (vzbv - the Federation of German Consumer Organisations) as well as Chair of the Board of the Deutsche Stiftung Verbraucherschutz (DSV - the German Consumer Protection Foundation).

 

In addition, Melanie Weber-Moritz is Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of the DMB Rechtsschutz-Versicherung AG (the DMB legal expenses insurance), Managing Director of the DMB Verlag (the DMB Publishing House), Editor-in-Chief of the MieterZeitung (the Tenants' Magazine) and Editor-in-Chief of the Professional Journal “Wohnungswirtschaft und Mietrecht” (Housing Industry and Tenancy Law) as well as Member of the Board of the Deutscher Verband für Wohnungswesen, Städtebau und Raumordnung e. V. (DV - German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development).
