Anne Viita

Anne Viita is the Executive Director of the Finnish Tenants' Association (Vuokralaiset ry), a nationwide tenant and housing rights organisation in Finland. She has worked in the housing sector for more than 30 years and has led the organisation since 1997. 

Throughout her career, Anne has been actively involved in developing housing policy, strengthening tenant rights, and improving housing security in Finland. She regularly participates in legislative consultations, expert working groups, and public discussions on housing issues. Her expertise covers rental housing, affordability, housing quality, tenant participation, and social sustainability in housing.

In addition to her national work, Anne is engaged in European and international cooperation on housing issues. She has worked closely with housing and tenant organisations across Europe and is actively involved in the International Union of Tenants (IUT). She currently serves as Chair of the Nomination Committee of IUT.

Anne is also Chair of the Board of Asuntosäätiö, one of Finland's largest non-profit housing organisations.

Founded in 1946, the Finnish Tenants' Association is a nationwide non-profit organisation that promotes fair rental practices, protects tenant rights, and advocates for affordable, secure, healthy and sustainable housing.

The organisation provides advice and support to tenants, participates in legislative and policy development, and promotes resident participation in housing matters. Vuokralaiset ry works with housing providers, municipalities, government authorities, trade unions and civil society organisations to improve housing conditions and strengthen tenants' rights in Finland.
The association is recognised as an important stakeholder in Finnish housing policy and regularly contributes expert views to national and international housing discussions.
